All Alone

There is a garden more beautiful than any human could imagine. It stretches on for infinity. Within its borders is every single plant that has existed, exists, and will exist. In the middle of the garden, there was a girl. She was sitting next to the still blue poppies, absorbing her surroundings. Although still and calm she looked like she was waiting anxiously for someone.

Running out of her patience she leaned over to the poppies and asked, “I miss you, could you come back?”

In response, the blue poppy morphed into a humanoid figure and embraced the girl whispering, “I never left.”

The girl hugged back, tears streaming down her face, “You did leave, you left me all alone, I was so lonely.”

“I’m here now.”

Slowly the girl’s tears dissipated replaced by a shining smile. The two sat in the garden enjoying each other’s company, in silence they were able to enjoy their surroundings together.

The girl interrupted the conversation, “I never got to say goodbye.”

The other figure looked up with confusion, “Sorry, what did you say.”

“I never got to say goodbye.”

“To who?” the figure was still confused.

“You.”

The figure dissolved away in the girl’s tears as the realization struck her in the heart. She slowly closed her eyes clutching dead poppies.

The girl opened her tear stained eyes.

A sea of grass stretched out as far as the eye could see, stretching farther than one could ever imagine. There was almost nothing but grass but in the midst of the grass was a very lonely looking oak tree that was trying to touch the sky. The green leaves that hung on to the branches of the tree danced with the wind, projecting moving shadows on the ground below. Beneath the tree, near the base of the tree’s mighty trunk stood a girl. The girl just stood at the base of the tree taking in her surroundings. She felt the rough truck and touched the soft grass, she swayed with the wind and looked out at the horizon, waiting.

I figure was created by the dancing shadows.

“Hello, did you miss me,” the figure whispered in the girl’s ear.

“I have already done this I know that you are not here,” the girl said turning her head hiding silent tears.

“It still hurts though doesn’t it,” the figure swirled upwards dancing around the girl.

The girl was silent looking at the ground with her knees in her arms, curled up. She looked up slowly, it was hard to look at the figure.

“Go away,” the girl said, “please.”

“I will always be with you, just not the way you want,” the figure replied merging back with the shadows, still swirling around the girl.

Now she stood on a beach with a sea stretching before her. The air was salty, the breeze spraying water onto the girl. The salt water added to the water coming from her eyes.

Far in the distance, there was a ship sailing farther are farther away.

The girl was screaming but none of her words could be heard. They were carried away by the wind. It was like she had no voice at all.

She could not stop the ship from leaving. She could not stop any of them from leaving.

And now she was alone.
